    • This position is posted as Assistant Coach, Women's Swimming and Diving, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Assistant Coach, Senior - Women's Swim.
    • Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose.     About the Department/College

    The NAU Intercollegiate Athletics program is a vital part of the university and the greater Flagstaff community, committed to every student-athlete's academic and athletic success, responsible citizenship, and departmental fiscal responsibility.

    About the Position

    The assistant coach for women's swimming coach is a twelve-month position which will report to the Head Swimming and Diving Coach. Responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach with all aspects of running a Division I women's swimming and diving program, to include, but not limited to recruiting, on-deck coaching, dry-land conditioning, meet management, travel coordination, development of seasonal plan, alumni relations, and adherence to NCAA, Big Sky, MPSF and NAU rules.
    Responsibilities Include

    40% - Coaching

    • Responsible for daily in-water and out-of-water practices for designated training group(s).
    • Develop comprehensive and detailed daily, weekly, seasonal plans. Provide instruction on technique and apply appropriate training stimulus via well-planned workouts.
    • Provide coaching and feedback during competitions.
    • Keep records and data to inform progression and development of student-athletes' performances.
    • Assist with all aspects of set-up for training and competition.

    35% - Recruiting

    • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes including but not limited to phone calls, emails, and texting correspondence, social media, off-campus contacts and evaluations, and on-campus visits. Build and maintain relationships with coaches of prospective student-athletes.

    20% - Administrative

    • Serve as a resource for and provide guidance to student-athletes for academic, athletic and personal needs.
    • Assist with team travel details, equipment orders and required paperwork, including reconciling of trips, pcards and invoices.
    • Serve as a liaison to assigned specialists within athletics including facilities, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, student-athlete development.
    • Assist with office organization and effectively communicate with all constituents in a timely manner to ensure quality operations of program.
    • Build and maintain relationships with former student-athletes, donors and community members.

    5% - Other

    • Secondary responsibilities include any other duties assigned by the head coach and/or associate head coach.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
    • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
    • Must possess a current AZ Driver's License.
    • USA Swimming coaches' certifications or ability to obtain within month of hiring.

    *A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in relevant field.
    • 2 years college coaching experience including recruiting and monitoring student-athlete academic progress.
    • Former collegiate athlete in the sport of swimming.
    • Working knowledge of Hy-tek Meet Manager and Team Manager.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sport.
    • Knowledge of collegiate athletics and student-athlete demands, including NCAA rules.
    • Knowledge of athletic training and conditioning programs and routines.
    • Knowledge of athletic equipment care and maintenance techniques.
    • Ability to create, organize and effectively conduct practices for swimmers.
    • Ability to recruit on state, regional, national and international level.
    • Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and successful passing of NCAA Recruiting Test.

    Compensation

    Salary range begins at $38,628. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
